Ed Tech Companies Against FCC’s Internet Fast Lanes
General Assembly, Codecademy, CodeCombat, and Open Curriculum filed objections to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) over the creation of “fast lanes” and “slow lanes” on the Internet. These companies claim that the proposal would make the Internet difficult to operate in because only larger, entrenched companies can afford to pay Internet service providers for the “fast lane” connection. These companies are in the online education sector, which includes students looking to gain job skills online, and could be negatively impacted by the FCC’s proposal.
