Reading Rainbow Campaign Raised $1 million on Crowdfunding Website
In just half a day, LeVar Burton’s Reading Rainbow campaign to raised $1 million on crowdfunding website Kickstarter with money from nearly 23,000 donors. The money will be used to bring the classic TV show to a new generation of readers though “web version for families at home, creating a classroom version for teachers and providing free access to it for schools in need.” In 2012, Burton revived Reading Rainbow as a tablet app with interactive books and virtual field trips. The new project will expand the Reading Rainbow reach to more platforms.
