NewSchools Gets $12M to Continue Seeding Startups
NewSchools Venture Fund’s Seed Fund has raised another $12 million in its goal to support a total of 55 startups by 2015, reports The San Francisco Business Times. The Palo Alto-based nonprofit seeded almost a quarter of all new investments in 2013, making them one of those more active investors in educational technology. Since its launch in 2012, NewSchools has provided funding to 23 ventures.
“We started Seed Fund to help bring the best technologies to teachers and schools,” said Jennifer Carolan, the nonprofit’s managing director. “Educators and students deserve the same incredible innovation and entrepreneurial talent the consumer web is commanding, and that requires capital.”
