ConnectEDU and CaseNEX Selected to Provide Data Dashboards Across the State of New York
BOSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–ConnectEDU, a privately held technology company committed to preparing and transitioning 21st century learners on their pathways from school to college to career, today announced it has won a contract with the New York State Education Department (NYSED) to aid in the transition to the Common Core State Standards. Beginning in the 2013-2014 school year, New York school districts will have access to DataCation Compass, an EngageNY dashboard solution created, in partnership with CaseNEX, to support improved instruction, student learning, and college- and career-readiness for all students. DataCation Compass is built upon the foundation of CaseNEX’s DataCation product suite – a solution set that has been widely adopted across the state of New York, featuring ConnectEDU tools to support educational road mapping and decision-making.
“With future assessments tied to the Common Core Standards, educators need more sophisticated tools to empower students and their parents to take a more proactive role in their own education,” said Evan Nisonson, CEO at ConnectEDU. “DataCation Compass provides all parties involved with a higher level of transparency around student and teacher performance. This data will ultimately help improve the success and education of our country’s up and coming workforce talent.”
DataCation Compass, one of the State-provided data dashboard solutions for EngageNY, provides intelligence information in a secure environment aimed at helping districts, administrators, and teachers make strategic decisions and improve instruction. The ConnectEDU/CaseNEX dashboard tool will include:
- Real-Time Benchmarking: Rather than using end-of-year data, educators can access student data on-demand to monitor how classes, individual students, or specific groups of students are doing against the Common Core Standards. The benchmarking will also include comparison of local data to statewide aggregates, allowing for more targeted instruction and greater impact on student outcomes.
- Early Warning Indicators: Using real-time data, DataCation Compass alerts teachers, parents, and students of progress against Common Core Standards to recalibrate and realign instruction based on individual student needs. The indicators identify both students struggling and those successfully meeting standards to better help all learners achieve college- and career-readiness.
- Instructional and Learning Recommendation Engine: Based on the early indicators of a student’s progress, DataCation Compass will identify specific instructional and learning resources to be used by students as they work toward mastering the skills and knowledge necessary to meet state standards. Resources will be pulled from EngageNY including videos, curriculum maps, modules, and lessons.
Beginning in August, ConnectEDU and CaseNEX will provide demonstrations of DataCation Compass in 12 locations within New York’s school districts during a traveling roadshow designed to give stakeholders the opportunity to view the solution at their convenience.
