Jones eGlobal Library Introduces Digital Library Analysis

REV EGL LOGOSMulti-point assessment helps schools take stock of their digitally resourced libraries.

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (PRWEB) June 24, 2013 – As the transition from print to digital ripples across education, schools are enriching their libraries with online resources to support students’ anytime, anywhere learning. The trend has many administrators and librarians wondering how their digital libraries stack up to the full-scale online libraries of tomorrow. Jones eGlobal Library, builders of trusted digital libraries for lifelong learning, is offering a free analysis to help education leaders understand how their digital libraries compare to the evolving “Gold Standards” when it comes to developing students’ information literacy skills.

“The analysis is designed as a resource for schools – a tool they can use to examine where they’re doing well and where they could better support students,” said Glenn Jones, CEO of Jones eGlobal Library. “Equipped with a more complete understanding of what students need and what their schools currently provide, administrators and librarians can make better-informed decisions about the development of their digital libraries.”

Offered for a limited time, the three-step analysis pairs school leaders with digital library experts from eGlobal Library. After answering a series of questions from Library Solutions Consultants, participants submit their current digital libraries for an extensive review by MLIS degreed librarians. The librarians evaluate the libraries based on:

  • Single sign-on capabilities
  • Search tools and search functionality
  • Relevancy and accuracy of search results
  • User interface and ease of navigation
  • Student tools

The librarians then provide written analyses, which are delivered to participants by the Library Solutions Consultants. The process of reviewing and analyzing a participant’s library takes between two and three months.

“Because learning resources continue to migrate from print to digital, educators are looking to expand their library services so students have access to high-quality online content,” said Jones. “Each school’s digital library roadmap is unique, which is why our analysis is highly personalized to each participant.”
