News Corp’s formerly nameless education unit branded Amplify; will center around interactive tablet for students

Nearly two years ago, Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp launched an education unit, and has recently (finally) given it a name. Amplify will center around an eponymously named Samsung Galaxy like tablet that will be targed at K-12 students. At Amplify’s helm will be former New York City school Chancellor Joel Klein, who joined News Corp back in 2010.

The tablet aims to be the center of a student’s education world and will feature, in addition to the expected digital texts, games, simulations, and even a personalized library. News Corp intends to begin testing the Amplify tablet with students during the upcoming school year.
