Microsoft confirms Windows 8 to launch late October

Windows Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Financial Officer Tami Reller announced Monday that Microsoft will ship its Windows 8 “Release to Manufacturer” build to OEM partners in the first week of August, and the operating system itself will officially launch to the public by the end of October.  This had been widely speculated anyway, as Microsoft had previously stated it would make Windows 8 available in time for the  holidays.
