Apple releases iOS native Podcasts app

Apple introduced it’s super simple podcasts app Tuesday morning, the aptly titled, Podcasts which the Cupertino company calls “easiest way to discover, subscribe to and play your favorite podcasts.”

Upon launching the app you’re taken to your own personal library of podcasts.  If you haven’t subscribed to any, you can click “catalog” in the upper left to browse by Featured or Top Charts titles, or by general categories such as Education, and subcategories such as K-12 and higher ed.    Podcast episodes can be downloaded for offline listening or viewing, or they can be streamed.

Podcasts requires iOS 5.1 or higher, and is available now as a free download from the app store.
