Brooklyn school: Delete Facebook account and pay $100 or face expulsion

Administrators of the Beis Rivkah all-girl high school in Brooklyn, N.Y., individually pulled each Facebook-using 11th grader from class and handed them a written ultimatum: Delete their accounts and pay a $100 fine or face expulsion, reported last week.

An anonymous school official said administrators were compelled to crack down on Facebook use in order to restore a level of Tznius (the Jewish Orthodox code of modesty), which the source said was diminishing because of students’ use of the site.

The article said about half of the 11th grade class used Facebook.
