Newsela, Inc. Announces Raising $4.1MM in Series A
WSJ reports this morning that Newsela Inc., a K-12 classroom focused edtech startup, announced that it raised $4.1MM in Series A funding. The company delivers news in format tailored for the readers at different reading levels. The students can use Newsela to participate in classroom-wide discussion about the current events.
The funding was led by Owl Ventures, a San-Francisco, CA based VC firm focused solely on edtech startups. Other participants in this round include: Knight Enterprise Fund, Cambridge Information Group, NewSchools Venture Fund, and Kapor Capital. An undisclosed number of individual investors participated as well.
