Mashable has released its list of 8 up and coming startup industries in its post: http://mashable.com/2014/06/24/booming-industries/. And education technology features a prominent #3 spot on that list. In the post, Navneet Johal, assistant analyst at Ovum, when interviewed, says that “The pressure is on chief information officers to improve outcomes, be more efficient and increase student satisfaction.” Mashable further cites such numbers as $429MM invested into the industry in 2011 (from Chronicle of Higher Education) and the success of Learning management system Instructure, that has now more than 800 customers and more than $150MM in contracts, as revealed by the company to Mashable.
