Pearson Canada announces new CEO
Pearson Canada announced today that Dan Lee, currently Pearson’s Executive Vice President for Content Management, North America, will become the new CEO of Pearson Canada on Dec. 31, 2012. He will take over for current CEO Allan Reynolds, who will retire at the end of the year.
Lee currently oversees all of Pearson’s Canadian operations, and in his new role he will be responsible for the overall performance of Pearson Canada, including Pearson ERPI, which is based in Quebec. He will retain his role and responsibilities as Executive Vice President for Content Management, North America.
Lee joined Prentice Hall Canada in 1990 as Vice President of Creative Services, and his expertise in content management soon attracted U.S. executives in K-12 and higher education. From 1993-1996, he worked in the U.S. as Senior Vice President of Production and New Media for the Prentice Hall Higher Education Group, where, among other accomplishments, he helped launched Prentice Hall’s Companion Websites. Lee returned to Pearson Canada in the fall of 1996 as Senior Vice President of Operations, and in 1999 he was promoted to COO and Executive Vice President of Pearson Canada. In 2008, he was promoted to Executive Vice President for Content Management, reporting to Will Ethridge, CEO, Pearson North America, while retaining his position as Canada’s COO.
“Dan is highly qualified to take on this important assignment and challenge,” said Bill Barke, Chairman, Pearson US Higher Education and Pearson Canada. “He is already playing a strong leadership role across Pearson with his expertise in the area of our workflow strategies and new digital content management strategies. Our Canadian businesses are primed to serve as hubs of innovation that contribute to Pearson’s vision of creating personalized learning at scale, and Dan’s strategic vision and guidance will continue to help guide their growth and expansion.”
