eTech Ohio and Learning.com team up to provide online safety curriculum to schools statewide

The eTech Ohio Commission (eTech Ohio), a state leader in promoting access to and use of technology for Ohio learners, will make Learning.com’s EasyTech Online Safety curriculum available for K-12 students, teachers, and administrators in all of Ohio’s public schools and chartered non-public districts. This initiative will allow Ohio schools to satisfy the national E-Rate requirements surrounding student internet safety and training.

eTech Ohio set out to find a comprehensive, cost-effective curriculum that would educate students about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms, and cyberbullying awareness and response.

“We wanted to provide districts the tools they need to stay compliant for E-Rate savings without an additional cost burden,” said Greg Davidson, eTech Ohio interim executive director. “In surveying schools about whether this would be a valuable initiative, 100 percent said that it would be, so we are pleased to be able to extend Internet safety training through Learning.com to all Ohio schools.”

Learning.com’s EasyTech Online Safety curriculum is a complete K-12 Internet safety program that provides students with the skills to be safe, ethical digital citizens as they communicate online. The curriculum is easy to use, encourages safe educational use of the Internet, and meets E-Rate requirements while documenting compliance. Its engaging curriculum — based on current research — includes interactive, self-paced lessons, group activities, guided practice, and immediate feedback. And, it provides teachers and parents with the skills and resources to support students as they tackle tough topics.

“Internet safety skills are critical to student success and well-being,” said Sarah Luchs, eTech Ohio chief learning officer. “The tools provided by Learning.com will be a tremendous resource to districts in their efforts to create safe and effective digital learning environments.”

“Our mission is to connect quality content with teachers and their students, and we are pleased to partner with eTech Ohio to bring their students the critical online safety skills they need to succeed in a digital world,” said Anita Kopec, interim chief executive officer of Learning.com.
