Nexus 7 finally shipping; retailers already reporting sellouts

In an e-mail to customers, Google said some versions of its new Nexus 7 tablet are in the mail and others would be on the way to customers by Thursday evening.

“We’ve had incredible demand for the new tablet and are shipping them as quickly as possible,” read the message. “If you placed your order by July 11, it will ship this week, and we’ve upgraded to overnight shipping so it arrives sooner. Orders placed after July 11 will ship next week with overnight shipping.”

Google’s online help center reports all 8 GB versions of the 7-inch device have been shipped, and that all 16 GB versions ordered prior to July 11th will ship by end of day Thursday.

Orders in the UK and Australia will be shipped later this month.

Some buyers who didn’t preorder were actually able to get Nexus 7 sooner in retails stores, but said stores have already sold out.  The following stores reportedly have the tabled “coming soon” after having sold out completely.

  • GameStop
  • Office Depot
  • Staples
  • Kmart
  • B&H NYC
  • MobileCity
  • Sam’s Club
  • Curry’s PC World UK
