MIT psychologist argues Facebook bad for tweens

With Facebook kicking around the idea of letting the under 13 set to join the social network, the floor opens for arguments both for and against.  Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself has gone on record as saying “my philosophy is that for education you need to start at a really, really young age.”

MIT psychologist Sherry Turkle tells TechCrunch why she won’t get behind it: “I don’t think this is such a good idea. I think that 13′s and above are having a hard enough time around some of the pressures of Facebook.”
