In addition to the recent updating audio features on the app, augmented reality (AR) has been added to Blackboard Mobile Central, reports Campus Technology.
The AR technology uses the iPhone’s camera, GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass, and will enable students to take enhanced informational tours of their campuses and surroundings. Users will be able to navigate campus and buildings in real time. Additionally, the application will also let users point their smartphones at buildings on campus to get more information about them.
The first campuses to use the technology, which leverages the iPhone’s camera, GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass, are Central Washington University, Florida Atlantic University, Marshall University,North Dakota State College of Science, Northern Illinois University, and The University of Arizona.
